Some people think that it is necessary to travel abroad to learn about other countries, but others think that it is not necessary to travel abroad because all the information can be seen on TV and the internet. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Many people believe that it is mandatory to travel overseas to learn about different cultures, while others believe it is not. I agree that TV and the internet can be extremely helpful methods to acquire interesting and fascinating knowledge about foreign cultures. However, these two methods are no substitute for real-life travel experience.

Interacting with people and media from different cultural milieux will afford you more exposure to a more international set of perspectives and experiences, and can help you to process new information. However, the benefits of accessing other cultures through the internet or other media has its limitations; one cannot understate the importance of in situ sensory information such as touch, smell, and taste. When you go to the place in person, it affords you the opportunity to meet and interact with local people, allowing one to attain a more comprehensive understanding of their culture.

Our world is connected now more than ever, and there is a plethora of information. Map applications allow you to explore places that are difficult to access, allowing you to discover new and exciting experiences. Friends on social media share pictures of their exotic travel destinations in real-time. In this way, you can get the same information that you would get from travelling without spending much time and money. Therefore, it can be a viable alternative to travel when you do not have much time etc.

Travelling, whether in person or remotely through the internet and mass media, is both culturally enriching and effective way to learn about other countries. However, remote travelling falls far short of travelling in person due to its obvious limitation mentioned earlier. Thus, in order to gain new information and learning of new exotic culture, it is essential to experience these first hand by travelling overseas in person. (300 words)
